The Tacking Point P&C regularly holds fundraising and social events throughout the year. These occasions provide fantastic opportunities to get to know other parents, learn more about the school, and show support for the students.
Without the support of volunteer parents and donations from families, none of these events would be possible. Our school (and our kids!) would miss out, not only on the funds raised, but the community involvement and spirit that these events bring to Tacking Point.
Some of our fundraising events are:
Ironman and Half-Ironman
Tacking Point Public School has been offered the amazing opportunity to assist with the popular Ironman and Half-Ironman competitions. Assistance is needed to co-ordinate volunteers as well as volunteers to act as marshals along Matthew Flinders Drive. Marshals must be at least 18 years of age (although there’s no problem with children accompanying their parents to cheer on the competitors). Each marshal will receive a hat and volunteer’s t-shirt, and will also be supplied with a “sustenance pack” and water during their “shift”.
This initiative not only presents an opportunity to support this great event but also a wonderful fundraiser for the school, as each volunteer “earns” money for the P&C. It’s a great social day with lots to see!
Mother’s Day Stall
Held in May every year, this stall is run by a team of volunteers. A range of special items just for Mum will be available to buy – watch for notices in the school newsletter – and helpers are always welcomed.
Father’s Day Stall
Held in August/September every year, this stall is also run by a team of volunteers. See the Mother’s Day Stall above.
The P&C’s biggest fundraiser, this community fete is held every other year later in the school year and is open to all. Donations and helpers are always welcomed. Click here for details. (Our next Spring Fair is scheduled for 2016).
Easter and Christmas Raffles
These annual celebration raffles are entirely organised by volunteers – from printing and collecting tickets, collecting donations for prizes, and wrapping prizes. Keep an eye on the Home page and school newsletter for when and where to donate Easter Eggs and reminders to return raffle books.
One of the most popular social events on our calendar, usually held in August, Trivia Night is run by volunteers and relies heavily on donations and community support. Get involved, book a table. We dare you not to have fun on this entertaining evening…
