The Tacking Point Parents and Citizens’ Association’s primary goal is the promotion of home, school and community partnerships that will assist principals, teachers, support staff, parents and students in the development and planning of school activities.
Involving yourself in your child’s schooling is a very rewarding experience, both for yourself and your child. Research has consistently shown that engagement in a child’s schooling by parents invariably results in a marked improvement in the child’s academic results.
At Tacking Point Public School, parents can help in a number of ways: helpers are welcomed in the classrooms, the library and the canteen; assistance on excursions and special outings is always required, and the many fundraising and social activities that the P&C undertakes need volunteers to manage and help with their running. Fundraising activities include: Mothers Day and Fathers Day stalls; fun times for the whole family such as the Spring Fair; and a parents only function, Trivia Night. Many friendships are made at these functions and an enjoyable time is had by all.
Meetings of the P&C Association are held at the school on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. These last about an hour and a half, and a wide variety of issues are discussed. You will find the meetings informative and a useful opportunity at which you have a chance to have your say and find out what is going on. You are strongly urged to attend this friendly forum.
